An internship is of vital importance, as it provides you with a glace into the professional world. It prepares you for the future challenges you might face in the company you work with, shaping you cognitive perception and enhancing your capability as the potential employee for some firm. We present before you 6 tips for a successful internship:

                  1. Setting objectives to join a firm - Before selecting a particular firm, you should keep in mind your future goals. You should firstly be able to answer questions like - In which domain do you want to work?  Does it have to be a field job or a desk job? Which is the preferred location of your company? Is the company you are opting for reputed and so on? The kind of organization you would choose would directly affect you future job prospective; therefore make a wise and careful selection.

                 2. Monitor your work environment & colleagues - After joining the firm, be a keen observer, observing each and every minute detail regarding the kind of work you are doing, the kind of work others are carrying out, the corporate culture, rules and regulations followed in the organization and the like. Listen carefully to whatever your boss explains and carry out the work assigned honestly and on time.

                3. Be disciplined and organised - Your first impression might not always be the last impression, but if the same kind of negative impression is made every time, it definitely would be the only impression. So do arrive on time! Also, make notes of all the tasks that you are completing, so that you may not appear confused, when asked about your completed goals by the boss. Keeping your workplace tidy is also important.

               4. Keep a track of your projects, assignments/work - Jot down every little detail about the day-to-day task that you carry out in your office. Make notes of the tasks given to you. Also, keep a photocopy or saved files on your PC of the assignments or work that you accomplish. This all would add up to your portfolio and might help while applying for jobs later on as it'd serve as a proof to what all that you did.

               5. Be positive and inquisitive - If you do not understand any part of your work, avoid being shy and ask your colleagues or a senior to help you out. Keeping quiet would never yield good results and would only add up to your work load as you may stay oblivious of what to do. You should show a penchant for learning. Also, do not be disappointed if you are snapped or your work is not appreciated. Keep a positive attitude and work towards improving your work quality and method.

                6. Set contacts - The last and one of the most important points is to make contacts with people in your organization, as they might help serving as a reference later on. So stay in touch with all as they may provide an incredible opportunity for references, networking, and even future jobs.
